
Tony Oulton is an experienced educator and leader, currently serving as the Headteacher of Bosworth Independent School. Educated at the University of Oxford, Tony has held several prominent positions in the education sector, including Principal of Hulme Grammar School and Acting Principal of Pimlico Academy. He has also been Head of Sixth Form at St Albans High School for Girls, and Head of Department and Oxbridge Coordinator at Woldingham School. Known for his strategic vision, strong business acumen, and commitment to student well-being, Tony is passionate about delivering academic excellence and transforming the school experience for every student.

Ita is Assistant Head Pastoral and the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead. She brings over 20 years of experience across a range of senior pastoral and academic roles, including Senior Pastoral Leader, Head of Year and Head of Department. She studied English Literature with History at Northampton and holds a Certificate of Education from the University of Leicester. She joined Bosworth in 2022 and leads on pastoral care and personal development, including welfare, attendance, behaviour, rewards, co-curricular provision, trips and visits, PSHE and RSE. Ita believes that education is a powerful vehicle for both personal and community growth, and that all young people should have access to excellent academic and co-curricular opportunities. She is an enthusiastic participant in the Leading Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Belonging in Schools programme and a strong advocate for character education and community engagement. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, theatre, cinema, yoga, the outdoors and live music.
Simon is a results-driven leader with extensive experience overseeing school facilities, catering, cleaning, compliance and operational teams to ensure a safe, efficient and high-performing learning environment. He brings particular expertise in health and safety, safeguarding and statutory compliance, and is highly skilled in managing site operations, contractors and comprehensive risk assessments. Simon ensures that all inspections, certifications and training requirements are met, fostering a strong culture of accountability and operational excellence that supports the school’s strategic vision. He holds a NEBOSH National General Certificate, a Level 5 Award in Leadership and Management Skills, and a BSc (Hons) in Sport Studies from De Montfort University. His previous roles include Sports Science Technician at Lincoln College, Assistant Manager in a sports arena, Events and Activities Manager in a retirement village, and Sports Facilities Manager at Moulton College. Outside of work, Simon enjoys spending time with his family, supporting his children’s football activities and attending Nottingham Forest Football Club matches.
Lisa is Director of Sixth Form and, as such, is responsible for leading the school’s UCAS and Higher Education programme, as well as Careers. She brings extensive experience in both classroom teaching and senior leadership. She has taught Theatre Studies, English Literature and the Extended Project Qualification, combining academic rigour with a strong commitment to supporting students as they prepare for life beyond school. She holds a BA (Hons) in Theatre and Philosophy, a PGCE in Drama, and the NPQSL qualification, and is a graduate of UCE. Prior to joining Bosworth in 2024, Lisa served for six years as Head of Sixth Form in a large state secondary school. Earlier in her career, she was Head of Performing Arts in a large comprehensive school. Outside school, she continues her passion for theatre, performing regularly with a local theatre group and contributing as a director, producer and actor across a wide range of productions.
Sean joined Bosworth in January 2026 as Assistant Head: Academic. He brings significant leadership experience from both independent and state school settings and his subject is Philosophy, Ethics, Religion. He previously led the Religious Studies Department at St George’s College, Weybridge, and before that headed the Philosophy, Religion and Ethics department at Epsom and Ewell High School in Surrey, guiding the department through a period of sustained academic development. Sean holds a BA from the University of Birmingham, a PGCE from the University of Sussex and the NPQSL qualification. A keen sportsman, he has experience playing, coaching and refereeing rugby, and enjoys spending time with his young family. He can often be found playing with Lucy, Mr Oulton’s dog, in the school’s reception.
Esther is Director of Student Development and teaches French. She holds a BA (Hons) in French and English from Nottingham Trent University, a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages from the University of Nottingham and the Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults. With experience across schools in the Midlands and Oxfordshire, Esther joined Bosworth in 2022 and brings a strong commitment to student growth, enrichment and personal development alongside academic success. Outside the classroom, she enjoys running with her dog, wild-water swimming, playing the piano and running a book club.
Mitchell is Director of Studies and teaches Business, Economics and Computer Science. He holds a BA (Hons) in Business from the University of Derby. He spent seven years working in banking and finance before becoming a teacher, and therefore brings valuable real-world insight into the classroom. He has taught at Denbigh School in Milton Keynes, including two years as Head of Business, and has been part of the Bosworth community for three years. Mitchell is a keen sports fan who enjoys running and supporting Aston Villa Football Club.
Dr Webster teaches GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics, as well as A Level Biology, Chemistry and Geography, and also contributes to UFP Biology. Dr Webster holds a BSc (Hons) in Molecular Biology from the University of Manchester and a PhD from the University of Glasgow/MRC Virology Unit. Before joining Bosworth in 2020, Dr Webster taught for 16 years at local schools and became Head of Science shortly after joining the school. Dr Webster also leads the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Outside the classroom, Dr Webster enjoys spending time outdoors, particularly camping, mountain hiking and cycling around Northamptonshire and the Peak District.
Mrs Neil teaches Music across KS3, GCSE and A Level and serves as Head of the Creative & Performance Department, overseeing Art, Drama, Music and PE. Mrs Neil holds a BMus (Hons) in Music from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and a PGCE with QTS in Secondary Music from Birmingham City University. Before joining BIS, Mrs Neil taught in both independent boarding schools and UK state schools. Outside teaching, Mrs Neil enjoys hiking, coastal walks, baking for family and friends, playing in an orchestra and exploring a keen interest in classic cars.
Mr O’Reilly teaches Core Physical Education and GCSE PE and holds a BA (Hons) in Physical Education (Secondary) with QTS. Mr O’Reilly brings experience from schools across Northamptonshire, including four years at Caroline Chisholm School delivering PE to a wide range of year groups. Experience in the health and leisure sector as a gym instructor and personal trainer further strengthens Mr O’Reilly’s approach to wellbeing and fitness. Outside the classroom, Mr O’Reilly enjoys gym training, playing golf and spending time with family.
Mr Chai teaches Mathematics and holds a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Hong Kong. With more than ten years of teaching experience in Hong Kong and the UK, Mr Chai brings a varied educational background to BIS. Outside the classroom, Mr Chai enjoys playing badminton and football and also enjoys social games of mahjong as a way to stay mentally active and connect with friends.
Ms Southgate teaches Cambridge KEY, PET and FCE. Holding a CELTA qualification and training from LAMDA, Ms Southgate has taught in secondary and preparatory schools in both the UK and Turkey. Since joining Bosworth in 2007, Ms Southgate has contributed extensively to English language provision. Beyond school, Ms Southgate hopes to travel around India and dreams of teaching in the Himalayas.
Mr Nguyen teaches Psychology and EFL and holds a BA (Hons) in English Language and Linguistics with Psycholinguistics from Oxford Brookes University, along with CELTA and DELTA qualifications. Mr Nguyen brings five years of experience teaching international students in schools, summer camps and community programmes. Outside BIS, Mr Nguyen enjoys dancing, walking in nature and engaging with the local Vietnamese community.
Mrs Sarma teaches Psychology and Sociology, and holds a BSc in Psychology from UCL and a PGCE in Social Science. A qualified teacher since 2019, Mrs Sarma has experience in the state sector and joined Bosworth in 2025. Outside school, Mrs Sarma enjoys yoga, Pilates and participating in a women’s health group in Buckinghamshire.
Dr Cabrera-Alvarez teaches Spanish and holds a Translation and Interpreting degree, a PGCE from Swansea Metropolitan University and a PhD in Linguistics. With 20 years of experience teaching languages in state and independent schools across the UK and France, Dr Cabrera-Alvarez brings extensive expertise to BIS. Originally from the Canary Islands, Dr Cabrera-Alvarez enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading and watching Harry Potter and building Lego models.
Mrs Maher teaches Geography and holds a BSc in Geography from the University of Sheffield and a PGCE from the University of Northampton. After 20 years teaching in an outstanding state school, Mrs Maher joined Bosworth in 2018. Passionate about global exploration, Mrs Maher has backpacked extensively throughout Asia and enjoys meeting people and learning from different cultural perspectives. Mrs Maher values the opportunities at BIS for students to share experiences that bring Geography to life.
Mrs Barnes teaches Mathematics and Further Mathematics and holds a joint honours degree in Maths and German along with a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics from the University of Manchester. Now in the twenty-fifth year at Bosworth, Mrs Barnes is a long-standing member of the Maths Department. Beyond teaching, Mrs Barnes is a dedicated supporter of the Northampton Saints and an active member of the Northampton Bach Choir, performing in notable venues across Europe and the UK.
Mrs Taylor teaches French and holds a BA (Hons) in French and English from Nottingham Trent University, a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages from the University of Nottingham and the Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults. With experience across schools in the Midlands and Oxfordshire, Mrs Taylor joined BIS in 2022. Outside teaching, Mrs Taylor enjoys running with her dog, wild-water swimming, playing the piano and running a book club.
Mr Pryce teaches Mathematics and holds an MSc in Maths Education from the University of Warwick. With experience teaching in a range of schools, Mr Pryce recently joined BIS and is committed to developing mathematical understanding and confidence. Beyond the classroom, Mr Pryce enjoys spending time outdoors.
Mr Bromilow teaches Economics and Business Studies and holds a Bachelor of Economics from La Trobe University, a Diploma of Education from the Catholic University of Australia and is a Certified Practising Accountant. Before teaching, Mr Bromilow worked as a financial accountant in the communications industry. After beginning a teaching career in Sydney, Mr Bromilow later joined Bosworth and has now taught at the college for 25 years. Outside teaching, Mr Bromilow enjoys history, politics and travelling and is well known by students for distinctive ties, socks and appreciation for The Simpsons.
Mrs Kainth teaches Drama and Sociology and holds a Drama degree from the University of Northampton, a PGCE from Newman University and the NPQ SENDCo. Formerly Head of Drama at a local school, Mrs Kainth now serves as Head of KS3 and SENDCo at BIS. Passionate about inclusive education and performance, Mrs Kainth enjoys reading, travelling, cooking and exploring new cultures, while maintaining a strong commitment to student wellbeing.
Mrs Rowland teaches History and English Language and holds a BA in History and English Literature from UNISA, along with a PGCE. With almost 20 years of teaching experience, including eight years at BIS, Mrs Rowland is an enthusiastic historian. Outside teaching, Mrs Rowland enjoys the Wizarding World and spending time with much-loved golden retriever, Jimi.
Mr Boothman teaches A Level Business, A Level Economics and GCSE Sociology and holds a BA (Hons) in Business Studies, a PGCE (FE) and QTLS status. After completing teacher training in South London, Mr Boothman spent six years teaching in Further Education before joining Bosworth in 2001. Beyond teaching, Mr Boothman has a strong sporting and musical background, including youth football representation for Northamptonshire Football Association and performing as a bass guitarist in a rock cover band.
Mr Moniri teaches Mathematics and Computer Science and holds an MSc in Data Science, a Diploma in Mathematics, a Graduate Certificate in Mathematics and Statistics, a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics, an MSc in Economics and a BA in Economics. With 13 years of experience teaching in international schools across Qatar, Italy, Spain and the UK, Mr Moniri brings a broad global outlook to the classroom. Outside teaching, Mr Moniri enjoys long-distance running and participating in triathlons.
Mrs Stacey teaches History, Philosophy, Religion & Ethics (PRE) and holds an LLB (Hons) in Law from the University of Bristol, the Law Society Finals and a PGCE in Citizenship and History. After teaching in the state sector, Mrs Stacey joined BIS in 2017. Beyond the classroom, Mrs Stacey enjoys travel, yoga, gardening and visiting art exhibitions and often participates in History trips with colleague Mrs Rowland.
Ms Kennedy teaches Mathematics and holds a degree in Mathematics from University College Northampton. With over 23 years of teaching experience in varied settings including a Category B prison, Ms Kennedy joined BIS as a supply teacher in 2021 before taking a permanent role. Outside the classroom, Ms Kennedy enjoys walking dogs and gardening.
Mrs Beckett teaches Business, Geography and ICT and holds a BA in Business and Management and a Business Finance HND from the University of Northampton. Alongside school teaching, Mrs Beckett works as an Associate Lecturer in the Business School at the University of Northampton. In free time, Mrs Beckett enjoys spending time with family and visiting North Wales.
Mr Baines teaches Business, Economics and Computer Science and holds a BA (Hons) in Business from the University of Derby. Mr Mattock teaches Business Studies and Economics and holds a BA in Law and Business and a PGCE in Business Education. With teaching experience across state schools and a period lecturing at the University of Northampton, Mr Mattock has spent 12 years teaching at Bosworth. Outside teaching, Mr Mattock enjoys baking and leads a CCA where students learn baking and cookery skills.
Dr Fessey teaches Chemistry at GCSE and A Level, GCSE Physics and Year 9 Science. Holding a BSc (Hons) and PhD in Chemistry from the University of Liverpool and a PGCE from Loughborough University, Dr Fessey brings experience from a range of schools before joining Bosworth. Outside school, Dr Fessey enjoys running and walking.
Mrs Lewis teaches Biology and holds a BA (Hons) in Zoology and an MA in Education from the University of Oxford. With more than 30 years of experience in education, Mrs Lewis has worked in teaching, leadership and consultancy and contributes extensively to the Bosworth MedSoc programme. Beyond teaching, Mrs Lewis sings in a community choir, volunteers for an educational charity and helps run events in Northamptonshire.
Mrs Dall’Oglio teaches ESL and English Language courses including KET, PET, FCE and IELTS. Holding a BA(Ed) in Education and Art, the Cambridge CELTA and the Cambridge DELTA (with distinction), Mrs Dall’Oglio also works as an IELTS examiner and TEMC trainer. With international teaching experience in Korea, Indonesia and Vietnam, Mrs Dall’Oglio brings a global outlook to BIS. Outside school, Mrs Dall’Oglio enjoys world travel, swimming, hiking and spending time outdoors.
Mrs King is the EFL and EPQ Coordinator and holds a BA (Hons) in Business Studies from Oxford Polytechnic. After teaching in a range of schools and colleges, Mrs King joined BIS in 2022. Outside work, Mrs King enjoys walking dogs, paddle boarding and eating chocolate.
Mr Ali teaches GCSE Biology, Fast Track Biology and KS5 Biology and holds a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science from Coventry University. With experience teaching across KS3 to KS5, Mr Ali joined Bosworth over a year ago. Outside school, Mr Ali enjoys true crime podcasts, nature documentaries and travelling to experience new cultures and cuisines.
Mr Whalley teaches Physics and holds a BSc in Science Education from the University of Lancaster. With 20 years of teaching experience at schools across the UK and three years at BIS, Mr Whalley is an enthusiastic physicist. Outside teaching, Mr Whalley enjoys theatre, board games, comedy and football and hopes to travel into space someday.
Miss Smith teaches EFL and French and holds a Joint Honours degree in French, Italian and European Studies from the University of Bath, along with a PGCE in Modern Languages from the University of Leicester. With teaching experience in the UK, France and Italy, Miss Smith brings a strong international perspective. Outside school, Miss Smith enjoys travelling, reading and spending time with family and cat Tomàs.
Mrs Jain teaches Maths and Further Maths and holds a B.Eng in Computer Science, an MBA in Project Management and a PGCE in Maths. With more than 20 years of teaching experience across India and the UK, Mrs Jain has been part of Bosworth for over 12 years. Outside teaching, Mrs Jain enjoys playing badminton and travelling to learn about new places and cultures.
Mrs Winship teaches Chemistry and holds BSc and BSc Honours degrees in Chemistry, an MSc in biochemical kinetics and a PGCE. With teaching experience both internationally and in the UK, Mrs Winship has spent 15 years at Bosworth. Outside school, Mrs Winship enjoys the gym, countryside walks, reading, theatre, travel, cooking, baking and handicrafts.
Ms Gregg teaches Art, including Photography and Textiles, and holds a BA (Hons) in Design and the Visual Arts and a TESOL qualification. Before joining Bosworth in 2006, Ms Gregg spent ten years teaching ceramics in an art-therapy setting. Passionate about creativity, Ms Gregg enjoys visual art, theatre, film and live music and often attends festivals and volunteers at events. Ms Gregg is also a devoted animal lover, sharing a home with a German Shepherd and four cats.
Mr Guler teaches Chemistry at GCSE, UFP and A Level and holds a BSc (Hons) from Yildiz Technical University and a Master’s degree in Chemistry Education from Istanbul University. With more than 23 years of experience in international boarding schools across Ukraine, South Africa and Hungary, Mr Guler brings a rich global perspective to BIS. Outside the classroom, Mr Guler enjoys exploring different cultures and travelling, with a personal goal of visiting 100 countries.
Mrs Swallow teaches Computer Science and holds a BA (Hons) in Learning and Teaching and an HND in Computer Science from the University of Northampton. Before entering teaching, Mrs Swallow worked as a Systems Analyst and later taught in Further and Higher Education, as well as serving as Head of Department in a secondary school. Since joining BIS ten years ago, Mrs Swallow has been a valued member of the Computing team. Outside school, Mrs Swallow enjoys horse riding and competing when possible
Maria Stevens is an EFL teacher with Trinity TESOL and PTTL qualifications. A graduate of Tresham College and Northampton College, she has over 15 years’ experience teaching adults and young people in a variety of educational settings, including Speak Up School of English, The Ferrers School, and the Bedfordshire Employment and Skills Academy, before joining BIS. Maria enjoys connecting with others, cooking, relaxing with her husband and dog, countryside drives, and staycations exploring hidden gems across the British Isles.
Mrs Rooney is an EFL teacher for the 2025–26 academic year, holding a BSc in Psychology and CELTA training from the University of Huddersfield. She has taught English in both primary and secondary schools in Mexico and Switzerland. During her time at Bosworth, she has been Head of Boarding and Pastoral Care, where she led residential life and supported student wellbeing. Outside the classroom, Mrs Rooney enjoys yoga, stargazing, and travelling the world with her family.
Mr Cook studied English Language and Literature, completed an MSc from the University of Reading with a focus on Land Management. He holds a BA in English Literature from Durham University. After working in property, he went on to teach in both maintained and independent schools before joining Bosworth earlier this year. Outside school, he is an active member of the bellringing community and is often to be found in local church towers.
Dr Mostafavi is a Physics and Chemistry teacher with a PhD in Physics. He has experience teaching GCSE, IB, and A Level Physics, alongside four years of teaching at university level. He has taught in Iran, Turkey, and the UK, gaining experience across a range of academic pathways and student needs. Dr Mostafavi values high academic standards combined with strong pastoral care and enjoys making complex scientific ideas accessible. He is particularly interested in supporting students’ independence, confidence, and critical thinking. Outside the classroom, he enjoys reading, fitness, music, travelling, and good coffee.
