Special educational needs and disability (SEND)

We have been providing specialist help to support SEND students with dyslexia for over ten years.

Supporting Students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

At Bosworth Independent School, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to flourish — academically, socially, and personally. We are proud of our inclusive ethos and we are committed to ensuring that all learners, regardless of need or background, are supported to achieve their full potential.

Our Approach

Our approach to supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is rooted in individual care, early identification, and tailored provision. We recognise that each student is unique, and we work closely with families, teachers, and external specialists to create a learning environment that is both nurturing and ambitious.

We aim to:

  • Identify barriers to learning early and respond proactively.
  • Provide targeted support that builds confidence, independence and resilience.
  • Ensure that every member of staff understands their role in supporting inclusive education.
  • Promote open communication between school, home, and students.

Support in Practice

Our SENDCo oversees the provision for students requiring additional support. This includes:

  • Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) that outline strategies and adjustments specific to each learner.
  • In-class support from teachers trained in adaptive and differentiated teaching.
  • Access arrangements and reasonable adjustments for examinations, as appropriate.

Collaboration and Communication

We value strong partnerships with parents and guardians. Regular reviews and meetings ensure that progress is monitored, targets are updated, and support remains responsive to each student’s changing needs. Where appropriate, we also work with external professionals to ensure students receive specialist input and assessment of needs.

A Whole-School Commitment

Inclusion is at the heart of who we are and what we do at Bosworth. All teachers share responsibility for supporting students with SEND, and staff receive ongoing professional development to ensure best practice. We believe that diversity enriches our school and that every learner brings valuable perspectives and strengths to our shared experience.
